Staff Feedback Shapes Updated Housing Designs as Project Nears Next Phase

Based on staff feedback, the working plan includes 21 residences, each with its own garage. One unit was removed from the original count of 22 in order to stay within budget. These plans are not final. The district will hold a community meeting in the near future to gather additional input before anything is finalized. Guest parking has also been added near the communal mailboxes.

The project currently outlines a range of options from two to four bedrooms, with different layouts designed to meet the diverse needs of staff. The garage design includes added architectural features to improve aesthetics while also keeping costs down, supporting modular construction, and allowing for efficient snow removal. Preliminary drawings have been submitted to the Routt County Building Department, and the team is working with the Steamboat II Metro District on water, sewer, and zoning requirements.

If these pieces fall into place, the goal is to break ground this spring. While the total number of units and the general unit types are set, many design details are still evolving, and the committee will soon shift its focus to interior design considerations. Exterior discussions are ongoing as well, including how garages will look from the street and how to maintain a cohesive neighborhood feel.
