District-Wide Start Dates

August 11–17: Teachers and staff return for Welcome Back Days and professional development to prepare an amazing year for our students!

August 18: Big day for incoming 6th and 9th graders—your first full day of school is here! Preschool and Kindergarten orientation also takes place today.

August 19: Official first day of school for all Kindergarten–12th grade students. Welcome back, everyone!
Elementary & K-8 Celebrations

Strawberry Park Elementary: Chill out with us at the Ice Cream Social on August 17 (2:00–3:00 PM), attend PK/K Orientation on August 18, and join our team for Back-to-School Night on August 20 (5:00–6:30 PM).

Soda Creek Elementary: Cool off at the PK/K Orientation & Shaved Ice Social on August 18 (2:00–3:30 PM), then connect with teachers at Back-to-School Night on August 25 (5:00–6:15 PM).

Sleeping Giant School: Welcome 6th graders for their first full day on August 18, alongside PK/K Orientation and a fun Supply Drop-Off & Popsicle Social (2:00–3:00 PM). Wrap up the month at Back-to-School Night on August 24 (5:00–7:00 PM).
Middle & High School Events

Steamboat Springs Middle School: 6th graders jump right into action on August 18, followed by Back-to-School Night on August 26 (5:00–6:30 PM).

Steamboat Springs High School: 9th graders lead the way on August 18! Bring the whole family for our Back-to-School Night (6:00- 8:00 pm), Alpine Bank Community BBQ and Partner Fair on August 27 (5:00–7:00 PM).

Yampa Valley High School: 9th graders launch into day one on August 18! Drop in for the Open House (9:00–11:00 AM & 2:00–3:30 PM), New Student Orientation (11:30 AM–1:30 PM), and save the date for Back-to-School Night on September 2 (5:00–6:30 PM).
